CAPTAIN Chris Shelley stormed home ahead of a very large field to take first place in this year’s Garon Trophy with a nett 68.
Andy Burn was second with a nett 71 and Paul Osborne third with nett 73. There was a record turnout of 59 competitors in the men’s midweek stableford.
The winner on countback with a score of 38 points was Steve England from Jim Marshall. John Falkingham was third with 36 points.
Garon’s ladies Harris Bowl team, captained by Debbie Wood, had a very good win 3-2 away to Abridge.
Wood’s team of Terry Whiteman, Jan McKeown, Gina Bawden and Eileen Robertson coped well with the blustery conditions.
The July Bogey competition was won by Lucia Baylis on countback from Di Brazier.
The Saturday medal was won by Jane La Roche with an excellent net 68.
