THORPE Hall Golf Club member Ali-Asgher Haji showed his potential as he came out on top in the opening Super Six event on the British Junior Golf Tour.

The six-year-old dealt with the windy conditions at Bedford Golf Club and compiled an excellent round of 46 over nine holes to secure victory in the six and under years age group.

Ali-Asgher, who also won the nearest the pin on the fourth hole, booked his place in the grand final with a crucial par three on the last hole.

The Thorpe Hall peewee member will compete in the showpiece at Magnolia Park Golf Club, in Buckinghamshire, on Sunday May 14.

Older brother Ali-Abbas Haji also competed at the Super Six event and finished 19th in the Challenge Division over 18 holes.

The Haji brothers were just two of a sold out field of 78 players who went head-to-head in the competition.

Leicestershire-based golfer Finn Dobson hit a hole-in-one on the fourth to claim the shot of the day prize.

The 10-year-old’s reward was a signed photo from top European professional Charley Hull, with the wording stating ‘Welcome to the Ace Club’.

Round Two of the British Junior Golf Tour’s Super Six series will take place at Cambridge Meridian Golf Club on Sunday, March 12.
