THE men were able to complete the St David’s Day Trophy, a four ball better ball competition for the Welsh Cup, on Saturday but the Sunday mixed foursomes had to be abandoned because of incessant rain.
The winners of the Welsh Cup, were Nick Rochefort and Gurmit Chana, with 47 points, from Bruce Bevan-Jones and Ron Neale, with 45.
The AYC Golf Circle, ended the successful captaincy of Gurmit Chana with the ladies’ night at Thorpe Hall. His chosen charity was the Strokebusters at Southend University Hospital, which will benefit from the excellent sum of £2,000.
The competitors for the St David’s Day mixed unanimously agreed to attend the planned dinner of Welsh Lamb on Sunday and will compete at a later date for the postponed competition.
