THORPE Hall’s men who have won a Medal or Stableford Monthly competition this year, are competing this weekend for the gold medal over 18 holes.

And several contenders were honing their game by competing in the September midweek Stableford and last Sunday’s September Stableford.

The midweek Stableford had a countback situation, with Neil Fitzpatrick and Bruno Desantis, both coming in with 38 points. Fitzpatrick took the honours and saw his 13 handicap cut to 12.

Desantis, in second spot, has been cut from 21 to 20. In third place was David Yang with 37 points; his eight handicap was reduced to seven.

In the monthly Stableford, division one was won by Richard Tansley, with 40 points. That saw his 12 handicap cut to 11.

He was followed by Jeremy Burrows, with 39 points, off a 12 handicap.

Division two was won by Tolga Kulahcigil, with 40 points, and that saw his 24 handicap cut to 22.

He was followed by Nick Shiret, with 38 points, and that saw his 17 handicap cut to 16.

Sam Stone won the cadets’ September Stapleford with 37 points, and that saw his 13 handicap cut to 12.

The runner-up was Harvey Turner, with 36 points, off a 19 handicap.

In third place was Ryan Evans, as he scored 36 points off a 16 handicap.
