A DISASTROUS closing round saw former Basildon and Thorpe Hall tournament professional Bill Longmuir fade out of the leading places in the Irish Seniors Open.

With two rounds of the 54-hole event at Ballyliffin Golf Club, County Donegal, completed, Longmuir was joint fourth after shooting 71 and 70 to lie one under.

But a closing seven over 78, in which he suffered five bogeys and two double bogeys, left him in a share of 20th position with a six over 213 total.

Victory on a one under par total went to Juan Quiros.
