BILLERICAY Town have parted company with defenders Danny Kerrigan and Darren Blewitt.

The duo have been released by the New Lodge club after not being offered new contracts.

Left-back Kerrigan, on Southend United's books as a youngster, was in his second spell at Blunts Wall Road, having previously been with the club in the 2002/03 campaign.

Central defender Blewitt had two seasons with Billericay. With West Ham in his youth career, he had a short spell at Roots Hall.

Non-contract midfielder Michael Black is also departing and joint manager Jason Broom explained: "I've told Danny and Darren that, if they don't sign elsewhere, we're happy for them to come back here pre-season and try and earn new contracts.

"Both have played a major part in Billericay's successes over recent years and we thank them for their past services."

It's believed that Broom and joint manager Grant Gordon are keen for defensive players to have more flexibility to play in more than one position.

Last season's leading scorer Bradley Woods-Garness is having talks with League Two Dagenham and Redbridge and Blue Square Premier side Rushden and Diamonds.

Billericay will receive a fee when he departs with the managerial duo having converted him from a centre-forward role to a highly-successful attacking right-side midfield position in the past six months.

A quartet of top quality experienced names are believed to be on the Billericay managerial duo's shopping list ahead of the summer transfer frenzy.
