BENFLEET bike racer Mason Law has high hopes for his track season this year after linking up with Trik Moto Kawasaki.

The 18-year-old will contest a second full season in the Pirelli National 600cc Superstock class.

He had a memorable fourth place finish at Snetterton in 2013 in his rookie year and is hoping to kick on this year with his new team.

“I’m quietly confident that we can do a good job and be up at the sharp end challenging this year,” said Law, who is managed and mentored by double World Supersport champ Andrew Pitt.

“With Andrew there to support and advise me and the work we have done over the winter; not forgetting the support from my dad and a few others – I think it’s going to be a good season for us on the Kawasaki.”

Trik Moto is a new brand providing bike accessories and is distributed by MotoDirect.

Pitt used his long-standing contacts within MotoDirect to secure support from the company.

Law felt he had a good debut season in the British Superbike Series support races, where he finished 12th overall, but was delighted to have support from Trik Moto.

The team supported Hudson Kennaugh on his way to winning the Pirelli National 1000cc Superstock title in 2013 and he will be Law’s team-mate this year.

Law has done winter testing in Spain on a slightly modified Kawasaki road bike to keep the miles off his ZR6R race bike.

He has also been cycling in Italy to build up his fitness, while Pitt has prepared a fitness programme for the teenager.

MotoDirect Sales & Marketing Director Jonny Towers said: “Mason has been in Spain testing a lot, setting some very impressive lap times and under the watchful eye of Andrew we expect him to be one of the front runners this year.”

Law warmed up for the new season with a reserve ride in the BRMC meeting at Brands Hatch at the weekend.

He topped the qualifying times with 48.194 on the Kent track’s Indy circuit but had to start from the back of the grid because he was a reserve entry.

The Benfleet rider still made up 30 places over the 10-lap race to finish eighth.

Law pulled out of the second and third races due to rain and will start his National 600cc Superstock campaign back at Brands next weekend.
