ST Thomas More School’s junior boys team finished an agonising four points away from reaching the English Schools Track & Field Cup final.

There were a number of fine performances from the St Thomas More School squad at Lee Valley but there were a handful of stand-out athletes.

Daniel Adebayo ran 12.4s in the 100m and triple jumped a huge distance of 11.80m, Herbert Zumbika, from Year 7, ran 26.6s for 200m and threw 9.72m in the shot, Chosen James clocked 13.4s in the hudles and jumped 4.77m in the long jump, while Isaac Smith leaped 4.71m in the long jump and finished the 300m in 44.6s.

St Thomas More finished second overall in the regional final, with their points score of 434 points just four points shy of the national final.

The youngsters’ day was topped off when they met star British sprinter Dwain Chambers.
