SOUTH Essex Gymnastics Club have been celebrating a hugely successful day at the county championships.

Youngsters from the club, based at Basildon’s Sporting Village, won a haul of medals from the Essex County Voluntary Level Championships with six of them being crowned overall champions.

In the level five competition, Paige Moroney took the overall gold medal with a score of 50.85 and also took four individual apparatus medals, including gold on vault and bars and silver on beam and floor Ellie Petroiu took the silver medal overall (50.25 points) and won gold medals on the beam and floor and silver medals on vault and bars.

Emily Hardy was the overall champion in level four with a score of 49.05 points and also won gold in the vault and bars and silver on beam.

Jemimah Allen took the silver medal on the vault in the level four (10 to eleven years) competition. Grace Dalton, Raniah John and Ellie Bates all competed in this age group too.

In the level four (12 to 13 years), Abigail Bradley was the champion with a points tally of 45.50 and she won a silver medal on the vault.

Ellie Hall also took the bronze medal in this age group with a total of 44.20 Also competing in this age group was Rebecca Manning, Ania Lathrope and Jessica Sansom.

Michelle Sillitoe came third in the level four (14-plus) age group with a total score of 42.40.

In the level three (11 to 12 years), Lucy McCarthy took the silver medal overall with a total score of 46.400 she also took the gold medal on bars and the bronze medal on beam.

In the level three (13-plus age group), Sophie Goodman won the overall competition with a score of 46.800, she also won the silver medal on vault too.

Karis Maskel won the FIG Espoir competition with a total score of 43.70. She also took a silver medal on vault and bars and the bronze medal on bars too.

Josephine Tang won the FIG junior competition with a total score of 46.05. She also took the gold medal on vault, bars and floor and the silver medal on beam.

Freya Ansell Jones finished in second position with a score of 43.80 she also picked up the gold medal on beam, the silver medal on bars and the Gladys Chart Memorial Trophy.
