EASTWOOD Seconds opened their Southend & District Badminton Association season with two wins in Mens Division One.

An 8-1 home win over newly promoted SLH Rayleigh Seconds was followed by a 5-4 away win at Southend.

Sean Conlon with Ken Adams and Graham Goodale with John Kindred both scored maximums and they were supported by two rubbers from Martin Rainbow with Adrian Watling.

Nick Stone and John Hall gained the point for SLH Rayleigh.

Conlon and Adams also won two at Southend as did Goodale with Watling.

Mike Weingarten and Phil Crabtree top scored for Southend also with two rubbers.

In the Ladies Division One, FitzWimarc Thirds were on the wrong end of two 6-0 scorelines, at Eastwood Seconds and FitzWimarc Seconds.

Kirsty Binstead, Lorene Roberts, Debbie Moon and Dawn Muggeridge scored maximums for Eastwood.

Donna Venables, Mandie Bowell, Sara Thompson and Mair Dew made up the victorious Fitz second team.

Greensward seconds were 7-2 winners against Westcliff fourth string in Mixed Division Two.

Terry Maylin and Jill Beaver scored a maximum while Michael Circus and Juliet Garnett and Michael Blee with Tracey Carey bagged two rubbers each.

Phil Foord with Sandy Woolacott and Alan Gravat with Teena Mitchell scored one rubber each for Westcliff.
