South Essex Gym Club girls are in the medals at competitions

At the Alpha Factor open invitational event, South Essex had three gymnasts competing.

In the pre-level four category (for eight year olds), Ellie Petroiu won with an overall score of 50.890. In second place was Paige Moroney with a total of 50.270.

In the testing level four category (for nine year olds) Elise Adeyemo was the overall runner up, scooping silver with a score of 50.300.

A couple of days later on October 19, the Colchester Invitational Level 7 competition brought a lot of young gymnasts to the town.

And again, the club’s youngsters got among the awards.

Six local gymnasts competed at the Level 7 Colchester invitational competition.

Sienna Goodwin won the competition with a score of 48.75.

She also got three gold medals on vault bars and floor and a silver medal on the beam.

Maggie May Shepherd came second overall with a total score of 48.70.

She also got gold medals on vault bars and beam and silver medal on the floor.

And Evie Carr came third overall with a score of 45.45.

She also picked up a silver medal on the bars, and bronze medal on the vault and beam. Another local youngster Isabel Cartwright got the bronze medal on bars with a score of 10.60.

Amelia Henneily and Darcie Meechan also competed in this competition and picked up some rosettes too.

In the weekend’s Essex County Team competition the South Essex Gymnastics Club competed at Colchester.

In the level four team, Rebecca Manning, Abigail Bradley, Ellie Hall and Michelle Sillitoe were up for the challenge and eventually scooped bronze with an overall team score of 134.45.

The team also won the Jean Morgan beam trophy for the best beam score in the competition.

The level two team was made up of Sophie Goodman, Lucy McCarthy, Francesca Turner and Isobelle Ager.

Their overall team score was 127.95 which put them second overall.
