DANNY Morgan rolled back the years when he took to the ring for the first time in a decade at his own show.

The promoter took the Boxer of the Night award after defeating tough journeyman Danny Salter, from Portsmouth, at the charity show at The Paddocks on Canvey.

Morgan said he felt like he had never been away as his body shots put down his Hampshire rival in the third round and helped set up a points win.

Southend heavyweight Mikey Bourne won his fight after his opponent retired and then Ricki Attreed took a points decision over his opponent, just called Ziff, after landing the cleaner shots.

Morgan organised the show in memory of his mum Carol Morgan and Terry Brocklebank and raised more than £4,000 for charity at the venue in Long Road, Canvey.

“It was a fantastic night with more than 500 boxing fans crowding into The Paddocks, making an unvelievable atmosphere,” said Morgan.

Skills bouts on the night featured Brandon Lee, Kye Pearce, Harry Williams and Richie Gamon all from Morgan’s Boxing Gym.

Morgan Boxing Promotions are staging their next show at the Liquid nightclub at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park on Saturday, January 21.
