Southend Pier: Whiting and codling have provided sport, plus there is a chance of a bass or flounder.

Southend beaches: Flounders and pin whiting have been landed.

Thamesmead: Eddie Sharp reports flounders, whiting and smelt.

Erith: There are still a few sizable bass at Morrison’s Jetty, along with whiting and flounders.

Belvedere: Bass and whiting are showing at Ford’s Jetty.

Dagenham: Flounders, whiting and eels.

Gravesend: Vince, from Dolphin Angling, reports codling, whiting, flounders, eels and the occasional bass.

Greenhithe: Codling and whiting have been landed.

Grays Wharf and Yacht Club: Codling, whiting and flounders have been caught.

Grays East Beach: It is mainly whiting being caught, plus a few codling.

All Hallows: Flounders, whiting and one or two codling have been landed.

Queen Elizabeth II Bridge: Codling and whiting have been caught from underneath in the deeper water, with flounders and pin whiting in the shallower water.

Stanford-le-Hope: Whiting and flounders.

River Crouch: There are lots of whiting and flounders, plus the chance of bass and codling.

River Roach: Flounders and eels are being caught, and there is a chance of bass or whiting.

Wallasea: Codling, dogfish and whiting are showing.

Burnham on Crouch: John Tredwell had five codling at Holywell point on Thursday, the biggest one weighing 3.5lb. The quintet were caught on lug and squid cocktail. Tredwell also had four whiting and two dogfish.

Walton Pier: The top of the pier re-opened on Monday following restoration work and anglers have caught whitng, codling, dogfish and thornback rays there.

Frinton: Dogfish, codling and whiting have been caught from the town beach.

Holland on Sea: Angling has moved up to opposite Kingscliff owing to sea defence work.

Clacton Pier: Codling, whiting and dogfish are making up catches.

St Osyth: Codling have been caught in front of the holiday bungalows.

The baits to use at all east coast venues are lug worm or squid, or cocktails of both.

Charter boats: Lots of decent whiting and codling have been landed once anglers have got through the shoals of dogfish.

Private boats: Anglers have had some large codling near the Mulberry Harbour off Southend, all of which have been tempted by unwashed squid bait.
