WALTER Gahadza faces the biggest fight of his career this weekend as he fights for the BAMMA promotion for the first time.

The former Belfairs High School pupil will be fighting Frenchman Mikael Lebaut at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.

And his coach at his TSG base in Westcliff, Dan Burzotta, insists Gahadza could not be in better shape.

“This is without doubt the biggest fight of Walter’s career so far and the good news is he’s in the best possible shape for it,” said Burzotta.

“BAMMA are one of the biggest promotions in Europe so this opportunity was too good for us to turn down.

“If he can win then it would also lead on to bigger things for him.”

However, Gahadza’s unbeaten record will be facing arguably its biggest threat yet as his opponent has triumphed in his last seven outings.

And Burzotta believes Lebaut will provide a stern test.

“He’s only lost one of his 12 fights and he’s a good, experienced fighter,” said Burzotta.

“But Walter has a great record too so it should be a great fight and we’re all going up there to support him.”

Gahadza warmed up for the fight by spending a fortnight training in Miami where he trained alongside some of the best Ultimate Fighting Championship cagemen.

They were all impressed by Gahadza’s talents and that has given him a huge boost ahead of Saturday’s showdown.

“Walter went out to train in Miami with some of the top UFC fighters and they were full of compliments for him,” said Burzotta.

“They were particularly impressed by how he wrestled because not too many English fighters are up to his standard.

“They wanted to know about where he trained and was coached and it’s certainly boosted his confidence ahead of the fight.

“He held his own and it was perfect preparation for him ahead of the weekend.”
