STAV Economou will end a year long wait for a fight when he takes on Kamil Bazelack in the main event of UWC 25 on Saturday.

The Westcliff based Economou saw off Bazelack when they last fought 14 months ago.

And Economou, who is nicknamed Crazy Bear, is keen to win the latest contest even more convincingly at Garon Park.

“I last fought him about 14 months ago he felt that the referee had stopped the fight too soon,” said Economou, 28.

“He wanted a rematch which I thought was ludicrous but I'm incredibly confident that I'm going to win again and this time I'll be looking to prove a point.

“I want to finish him even more emphatically and decisively than last time.”

Economou has therefore prepared well for the fight at his TSG base in Westcliff.

And he cannot wait to fight in front of a home crowd.

“It's been a year since my last fight so I'm itching to get back in the cage, I'm feeling fit and ready to fight back home in Southend,” said Economou.

“Preparation has gone really well, Dan Burzotta has been pushing me really hard, as he always does and I can't wait for the fight now.”

Economou's long term goal remains to fight full time.

He aspires to be signed up by a major organisation like Bellator or the UFC.

But he currently funds himself by working at the Fish House restaurant which remains hugely popular for fans of Southend United heading to and from Roots Hall.

“I enjoy working at the Fish House and the football fans have never given me any trouble,” laughed Economou.

“All of the supporters, whether they're with the Shrimpers or the away fans all lobe coming in and enjoy their food before the football.

“I'm not sure they're really paying much attention to me!
