HUNDREDS of supporters filled Concord Rangers’ Aspect Arena to support the club and community football schemes in Castle Point.

The Beach Boys annual community day was held on Saturday, with the club’s gates opened to football fans for the Conference South match against St Albans City.

More than 700 people, including a number of borough dignitaries, basked in the sunshine to watch Concord’s 3-1 win over the Saints and gave generously to the club’s charity, the Indee Rose Trust.

A total of £1,560 was raised for the Canvey charity, which helps children and their families who have been diagnosed with a brain or spinal tumour.

And Phil Crowe, the club’s football development director, said Concord Rangers want to appeal to fans not only on Canvey, but across Castle Point.

“We run a number of youth football schemes and days such as these are vital if we want to broaden our fan base,” he said.

“A lot of work went into the day, but this is not about one person and what they have done but about what the club is achieving.”
