SOUTH Essex Gymnastics Club’s Brinn Bevan was keen to point towards the positive side of his performances at the British Championships.

The Thundersley-based 17-year-old finished third in the senior high bar final and sixth in the all around competition.

And Bevan was pleased to have again competed with his new routines.

“I didn’t have the best of weekends, but it’s good experience for me and there were still parts of it I was happy with as well,” said the former Deanes School pupil.

“It was only the second time I had got to compete the routines since moving up to the seniors plus it was my second full competition back from injury as well.

“With all in that mind I’m still happy with how it went and I’ve certainly learnt a lot from it too.”

Bevan also came fifth on the parallel bars, sixth on the floor, ninth on the vault, 10th on the rings and 12th on the pommel.

The youngster then finished eighth on the parallel bars, the high bar and the floor in the masters finals and is now waiting to discover whether or not he will be selected for the forthcoming European Games which take place in Azerbaijan in June.
