STUART Bingham’s World Cup adventure is over after he and Mark Selby were knocked out at the group stage in China.
The 39-year-old World Champion and world number one partner Selby defeated the Republic of Ireland 3-2 in their final group match but were sent packing on countback, as Thailand edged through.
England’s defeat at the hands of the Thai pair meant they were eliminated after the two nations tied on points, despite Bingham and Selby having won their other four encounters.
Bingham will return to action at the end of the month at the Australian Goldfields Open, which was the scene of his very first ranking win back in 2011.
He faces Fergal O’Brien in round one, a familiar face as Bingham beat the Irishman only days ago in the World Cup group stages.
