ALL of Billericay and Wickford’s Boxing Team were undefeated in an fantastic night of fighting held at Basildon’s Holiday Inn hotel.
Several boxers from New York flew over to take part in the bouts.
And the triumphant boxers were all presented their winner’s medals by comedian Lee Evans.
The evening saw the opponents meet for the first time in the ring before a very sporting presentation as both teams shook hands, exchanged gifts and stood for the national anthems of both countries.
Billericay’s Kenza Buckley, Alfie Grove, Frankie Wood and James Eaglesfield all impressed in their skills bouts before Josh Walton managed a great win under his belt in a contender for bout of the night.
Duel – George Liddard, from Billericay and Wickford BC, in blue takes on Harwich’s Stevie Martin
Finley James, one of the club’s most improved boxers, then saw off a very tough opponent before George Liddard triumphed against Harwich’s Stevie Martin.
Bobby Watson followed suit by beating Freddie Gonzalez from New York in an entertaining encounter which had the crowd on their feet.
Joe Gonella then showed off his skills to see off New Yorker Henry Clare before James Osborne displayed remarkable improvements to beat his opponent from the south of England.
Harry Palmer also triumphed in his long-awaited debut against a late replacement while Mike Chalkley celebrated his third win in a row.
The Billericay & Wickford team will make the return trip to New York next year.
