MOTORBIKE racer Mason Law maintained his lead in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship after finishing third at Knockhill.

The Benfleet rider was sitting in third and on course for a podium finish when the race was stopped at two-thirds distance due to poor weather at the Scottish circuit.

Law started the race on pole position but admitted he was happy to come away with enough points to keep his championship lead.

“Today was one of those days where third place was better than an early bath!” said the NMT No Limts Kawasaki rider.

“Drizzle at the start of the race meant I adopted a steady pace, which dropped me back to fourth.

“I started to find my feet and put in some solid laps and managed to get into third; then rain started to fall and the race was red flagged and the result was called.”

Law, in his second season in the British Superbikes support race, added that he would take the points and was looking forward to getting back to Brands Hatch next weekend.

Race Result: 1 Tarran Mackenzie (Kawasaki); 2 Andrew Irwin (Kawasaki) +2.182sec; 3 Mason Law (NMT No Limits Kawasaki) +3.477sec. Championship points: 1 Mason Law 116, 2 Ben Currie 100, 3 Tarran Mackenzie 82.
