WESTCLIFF'S Liam Igoe will be heading to the USA this summer to take up a prestigious football scholarship.

The 18-year-old will be joining West Virginia Wesleyan located in Buckhannon.

And Igoe cannot wait to line up for the “Bobcats” soccer team.

“The main reason I want to study in the US is for the life experience and I’m really excited it,” said the Westcliff High School pupil.

“The further I got into the process I was speaking to people who had already studied or are currently studying out there and they all said that it would be the best four years of your life.

“After only hearing positive words about university life in America I was so set on getting out there that I didn’t even apply to universities here, to the concern of my teachers at school.

“But, to be honest, the more I found out about studying in the US I couldn’t understand why anyone who had the opportunity to do it would turn it down.

“The facilities are also top drawer and the campus is quality as well.

“As well as that the school has good academic standards which pleased my parents.”

Igoe, who had been playing with Concord Rangers, will now have the opportunity to combine his university studies alongside playing high level football for the next four years.

The scholarship has been gained through the assistance of PASS4Soccer Scholarships.
