DOMINIC IORFA, ENGLAND U21 (Wolves): Iorfa made his first start for the England Under-21s as they drew 0-0 in Bosnia & Herzegovina in their European Championships qualifier. Iorfa, who attended St Thomas More High School in Westcliff, admitted the trip to the Balkan state, which was the scene of great atrocities in the mid-1990s was a real eye-opener for the squad.

“When you look out of the coach window and near to our hotel, you see the buildings and it makes you wonder what that was, or what happened there,” said Iorfa, inset.

“I don’t really know too much about it, but it’s interesting when you hear about the cities we’re in. If it wasn’t for football, I probably would never come to Bosnia so it’s good to travel and see different countries and play in different stadiums.”

Iorfa will be hoping to keep his place in the side when England host Switzerland in Brighton on Monday evening (5.45pm kick-off).

JAKE FORSTER-CASKEY, ENGLAND U21s (BRIGHTON): Forster-Caskey played the final four minutes in Bosnia as England drew 0-0 but is hoping to get the chance to start against Switzerland on Monday night on home turf. The game is being played at Brighton’s Amex Stadium and Forster-Caskey, who was born in Rochford, wants to feature in order to show his Brighton club boss Chris Hughton what he can do.

The midfielder has fallen out of favour at Brighton this season but said international football will give him a chance to impress.

“It’s been slightly frustrating this season, but Brighton have been doing really well so I have no complaints about that,” he admits.

“So I’ve had to go out on loan to get some games but I’ve enjoyed my time with England and on loan.

“Whenever you play, you try to impress the manager here but I’m here every day with him so I’m trying to do that all the time.”

CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS, USA U23s (SPURS): Carter-Vickers started at centre-back as the USA lost to Brazil 2-1 as they continue their preparations for the Rio Olympics.

JOSH CULLEN, IRELAND U21s (WEST HAM UNITED): The Wickford midfielder started in central midfield as Ireland’s hopes of qualifying for the European Championships took a real blow with a 3-1 defeat to Lithuania in Vilinus.
