STUART Bingham crashed out of the UK Snooker Championships after he was beaten 6-3 by Peter Ebdon.

World Champion Bingham was always chasing Ebdon, who led 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 before closing out a 6-3 victory at the Barbican Centre, in York this afternoon.

The 39-year-old from Vange had enjoyed an easy passage through to the third round, while Ebdon had only booked a date with Bingham in the early hours of this morning, his match against Dominic Dale not concluding until 1.30am.

And Bingham was gracious in defeat, admitting “I thought he played well, particularly after finishing at 1.30am in the morning.”

Bingham had hit a competition hit 143 in his win over Anthony Hamilton but failed to hit those heights against Ebdon, with his highest break 88.

Ebdon made the only century break as he closed out the match, scoring 109 to book a date with either David Grace or Jack Lisowski.
