WORLD snooker champion Stuart Bingham feels he is returning to his best form ahead of tonight’s quarter-final clash against John Higgins at the Masters.

Bingham, who has made a slow start to the season, saw off China’s Ding Junhui to set up this evening’s encounter.

And the Vange based star is now hoping to produce an even more polished performance against Higgins.

“The results haven’t been great for me in the first half of the season but hopefully I’ve turned the corner now and I can start to push on,” said the 40-year-old.

“Beating Ding was the first time I had ever won a match at the Masters so it was nice to finally achieve that but this is going to another tough match for me.

“But I’m looking to push on and get my hands on this trophy too if I can.”

However, Bingham must overturn a poor record against Higgins if he is to keep his Masters challenge alive.

Bingham has lost to the four time world champion in eight of their previous nine meetings.

But Bingham will still be heading into the clash in a positive frame of mind.

“I’m trying to emulate how I was playing at the worlds and I do feel like I’m getting back to that level again now,” said Bingham.

“It’s been hard because looking back now I was in brilliant form for the last three or four of those matches.

“But I need to focus on the games ahead of me and making sure I play well enough to win.”

Tonight’s game starts at 7pm and will be shown live on BBC Two.
