STUART Bingham is adamant there is still more to come from him after reaching the Masters semi-finals.

The Basildon cueman didn’t produce his very best snooker but still overcame a surprisingly sub-par John Higgins 6-3 at London’s Alexandra Palace.

The pair were 2-2 at the mid-session interval but Bingham moved 5-2 ahead with breaks of 82 and 70 and although Higgins made a 120 in frame eight, the world champion clinched it with a 48 in the next.

And the 39-year-old acknowledges he was solid but unspectacular as he prepares for a massive semi-final with Ronnie O’Sullivan on Saturday evening.

“Before the interval I could see John was struggling a bit – he didn’t look himself. I could see he wasn’t on it but only being 2-2 at the break, I thought that was my opportunity gone,” said Bingham.

“I pulled out some good clearances and played ok but feel like I’ve got a lot left in the tank. I’m in the semi-finals and looking forward to it.

“Against John, and against the top players, you’ve got to punish them when you get the chance and I did a couple of times.

“I put him on the back foot and although he made a great hundred to make it 5-3, I managed to pull out a shot and a half in the last frame to get the break going.”

Bingham famously beat O’Sullivan en route to winning his maiden World Championship in May last year.

The world number two has struggled somewhat since sealing the world title but claims the prospect of facing a rematch with the five-time Masters champion in the last-four is something he is relishing.

“I’m really, really looking forward to it,” added Bingham.

“I can’t wait – this is the sort of thing you pick up a cue for.

“Growing up I watched Jimmy White play at Wembley and now I’m playing the best player in the world in London, I can’t wait.

“I will draw on my win over him in the World Championship because I know I can beat him over the longer matches.

“He looked on it against Mark Selby in his last match, so he’s going to be very tough to play.

“I’ll have to play, twice, three or tenfold better than I did there to give myself a chance but I’ve got a chance – I’m in the semi-final and will enjoy it.”
