HULLBRIDGE Sports Ladies manager Lisa Frost insists her side are not scared of C&K Basildon Ladies ahead of this weekend’s Women’s County Cup quarter-final.

Both clubs have been on remarkable journeys in recent years, with Hullbridge only forming a ladies side in the summer of 2014, before going on to win the Essex Women’s Division One title.

Meanwhile, C&K were only formed 11 years ago but have enjoyed a remarkable rise to the third tier of women’s football, currently playing in the Women’s Premier League Southern Division.

Sports currently play four tiers below them and Frost says the size of the challenge at Canvey Island’s Frost Financial Stadium cannot be underestimated.

“This is a whole different ball game,” she said. “It is equivalent to the Hullbridge men’s team taking on a Football League side and it will be incredibly tough.

“That said, the girls are really looking forward to it. This is where they want to be and this group is a team full of winners. We won the league in our first year and have assembled a very good side. I want them to go and enjoy the day but also show what we are all about.

“They have a lovely pitch and we are excited. You never know, the cup is about upsets.”

Sports currently sit fifth in the Essex Women’s Premier Division, although they are only four points off top spot and have a far superior goal difference to any other side in the league.

Frost has not ruled out a second successive promotion, and said she thinks her side are more than capable of continuing to achieve.

“This team is growing,” added Frost. “We have a reserve team now and lots of teams wouldn’t be able to put out a second string.

“The league is really competitive this year and we are all really enjoying the challenge. But we know how to win and want to push on.”
