SOUTHEND & Benfleet’s year of success shows no sign of ending after they added the Essex Hockey Women's Indoor League Division Two title to their growing trophy cabinet.
Not content with being Summer League Champions and winning the Essex Premier League, they stormed to the crown after beating every team apart from Redbridge & Ilford on their way to glory.
In a nail-biting finish, it came down to the very last game – and it was a game S&B weren’t even playing in.
On the last evening of the competition S&B played their final game and crushed Basildon 6-0 to put them two points ahead of Redbridge, with Redbridge still to play against Old Loughts.
In an incredibly tense finale Redbridge led 2-1 with minutes to go only for Old Loughts to equalise in the final seconds meaning S&B stayed top and won the division to the delight of captain Naomi Barker.
