ANTHONY Joshua is heading to Southend this weekend.

The IBF heavyweight champion of the world will be at a special evening at Garon Park on Saturday.

And Event organiser Danny Morgan cannot wait to welcome the superstar boxer to south-east Essex.

“It’s going to be a great evening and I can’t believe my luck with the timing of it all really,” said Morgan.

“I sorted everything out six months ago, and the time we expected Anthony to be European champion when he came here.

“But for him to be world champion in a fight he won only a couple of weeks ago makes this evening even better.

“He’s done fantastically well and we look forward to welcoming him to our area.”

Joshua is due to arrive in Southend at 6.30pm for pictures with the VIP guests, whose section has now sold out.

After that, the London 2012 gold medallist will be interviewed by compere Mark Peters and will also answer questions from the VIP guests before a three-course meal will be served.

But, such is the popularity of the event that Morgan – who runs Morgan Boxing Promotions – has decided to open it up to even more people.

“I’ve spoken to the venue and we’ve decided that the tiered seating will now also be available,” said Morgan.

“These tickets will be available on the door on the night and are priced at £20.”
