BILLERICAY Blue have won the double for a second year running in Chelmsford & District Netball League.

They claimed top spot in the league by 38 points over CeeJays Abercorn and triumphed over their team mates, Billericay Red, in the David John Cup final.

Six teams who had reached the C&DNL cup finals played in their respective matches; David John, Nicky Clarke and Princes Plate.

Billericay Blue, who have had a great season at the top of division one this year, competed against Billericay Red for the David John trophy.

It was an exciting game with some accurate passing down the court. The Blue’s centre, Shelly Jerden, provided some smooth feeds into the shooters, Chantelle Hankin and Charlotte Baucutt, who were able to convert into goals.

Although the Red’s defence, Amy Rawlings and Emily Allen, were able to make a few turnarounds it was the skill of the Blue team that brought the final score to 45-26.

Great Waltham & Phoenix Fire competed for the Nicky Clarke trophy with Great Waltham and won 39-32.

Blackwater Crystals & KTS Lions competed for the Princes Plate, with Blackwater Crystals winning 33-30.

With spectators cheering on their teams there was a great atmosphere at New Hall to end the season which began in September 2015.

Winners and runners-up of the 13 divisions and cup competitions will be presented with their awards at the League’s presentation evening in June.
