BASILDON biker Danny Buchan was full of praise for his team after speedy repairs saw his compete in race two shortly after he came off the bike at high speed.

Riding the Ducati Panigale for The Lloyds British Moto Rapido team, Buchan had a disappointing weekend at the BSB meeting at Brands Hatch despite showing glimpses of his talent across the weekend.

After his early qualification rounds went well, he fell 0.06 seconds outside the limit in Q3 to line up for race one in 12th place.

The first few laps passed without incident but, on lap four, Buchan was the victim of a big highside at Clearways, cutting short his aspirations of a decent finish.

With rider and machine badly battered and bruised, the team were racing against the clock to rebuild the Ducati and get the young rider back into some sort of physical condition to contest race two later that afternoon.

And three hours later man and machine lined up in 14th place although Buchan had dropped down the order to 20th place by lap six.

Buchan made up some time, battling with Shaun Winfield, Billy McConnell and Alastair Seeley and sitting as high as 13th on lap 26 before crossing the finishing line in a well-earned 15th place.

And Buchan was pleased with the outcome.

“The first day was a good day overall, and the team changed parts of the bike for the second practice and straight away it felt very comfortable. As for day two, if I had put my sectors together I'd have been in the top six but it didn’t work out

“I scored a point in race two but didn't think I’d be able to even race as my body was smashed and so was the bike! The team did an amazing job.”
