A SOUTHEND prep school is celebrating a remarkable term of sporting success, as the pupils racked up a host of wins in numerous events.

Alleyn Court Preparatory School enjoyed triumphs in archery, gymnastics, aquathlon, cricket, football and cross country in a hugely profitable period.

All the events are run by the Southend Primary School Sports Association and the school’s Director of Sport Noel Smith said he couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.

“It has been a pleasure to see all the hard work and dedication from a range of Alleyn Court pupils this term, bringing continued sporting success,” he said. “We often have 50 plus pupils attending morning clubs, before school and often even more at various break time and after school clubs. This dedication goes to show that if you work hard you will get results and improved performances. I couldn’t be prouder of all of the Alleyn Court pupils that make my job enjoyable every day.”

The archery team claimed the Southend Primary Schools title for a second consecutive year, having hosted the tournament.

Samuel Birdsall claimed individual gold and Hector Bailey individual silver in the boys’ competition and Calypso Bailey individual gold in the girls’ competition.

Jennie Fryer completed the successful team.

A non-scoring B team included Phoebe Fryer, Theo Baker, Dominic Gal and Izabel Stewart.

The Year 3/4 Gymnastics team claimed the Southend title with six individual routines and vaults, and will now represent Southend at the Essex Finals later this month.

Louisa Gallacci, Ellie Wilcox, Toby Dowling, Eva Belle McNamara, Ashleigh Williamson and Sadie Albon made up the squad.

The Year 2 team also qualified for the Essex finals with a brilliantly original routine to Disney’s Monster’s Inc, winning silver.

The team was Ruby Allen, Oscar Walls, Ellie-Rae Thomas, Finley Harlett, Martha McKay and Anaiya-Mai Gupta.

The Year 5/6 team managed to also win the silver medal and Georgia Williamson, Calypso Bailey, Sophie Galbraith, Daisy Williams, Olivia Chapman and Jacob Guyler performed admirably.

Alleyn Court claimed the Southend Primary Schools Aquathlon event for the fourth year running.

Ten teams from Southend competed in the competition with Alleyn Court coming out on top as Sophie Galbrith also claimed the individual girls title for the second year in a row.

The winning team was Sophie Galbraith, Ellie Williams, Daisy Williams, Olivia Chapman, Alex Ley, Lucas Smith, Arun Fitzgerald and George Ley.

There was double cricket success as the girls and boys’ team returned victorious.

The Girls’ Kwik cricket team won all their games on their way to claiming the SPSSA title for a second year in a row, beating Scared Heart in the final to qualify for the Essex Finals.

Ava Carmichael, Ellie Williams, Daisy Williams, Olivia Chapman, Madison Search, Kaylen Metha, Olivia Higgs, Sophia West and Sophie Galbraith were the winners.

The following day it was the turn of the boys to compete and they dominated the event, with the opposition scoring negative runs in all but one of their games, beating Thorpe Hall in the final.

The winning team was Lucas Smith, Arun Fitzgerald, Max Holland, Devan Chauhan, Oscar Hall, Silas Eeles-Nolle, Max Maddocks and Michael Chapman.

The school qualified for the ISA National Football finals after winning the East Regional Competition earlier in the year.

The team travelled to Nottingham, winning three and drawing two of their first five matches.

Alleyn Court lost to the eventual champions and ended the tournament in fifth place.

Silas Eeles-Nolle, Lucas Smith, Max Holland, Arun Fitzgerald, Maximus Maddocks, Thomas Dean and Beau Masters-MacDonald made up the side.

And Beau Masters MacDonald followed up that success with victory in the Essex Cross Country last week at Hadleigh Country Park.
