STUART Bingham edged into the second round of the Indian Open, although he was given a scare by Steven Hallworth.
The world number two was the hot favourite to book his passage into the second round in Hyderabad and he started impressively.
Breaks of 56 and 61 saw the former world champion cruise into a two frame lead but he barely left his chair in the next two frames, scoring just five points as Hallworth levelled the match.
Bingham scored the highest break of the match (71) to move into the lead once again but a break of 71 from Hallworth took the match into a decider.
And Bingham came out on the right side of the seventh frame to book his place in the next round and a match against Welshman Matthew Stevens tomorrow.
