BENFLEET’S Mason Law will look to re-ignite his maiden season in the British Supersport Championship this weekend at Snetterton in Norfolk.

The reigning National Superstock 600cc champion opted to join the Gearlink Kawasaki team this season in the British Supersport class, and despite an opening day podium, a number of internal problems have restricted his progress since the Silverstone round.

Not one to apportion blame, Law has carried on regardless, working hard to overcome a nasty hand injury, also sustained on the opening weekend.

And he’s aiming to get back on the podium action during round five.

“Snetterton is one of my favourite circuits, and I’ve been really looking forward to coming here on a Supersport machine,” said the 20-year-old.

“Having sampled some Supersport action previously with a window of opportunity in World Supersport, I know how good the ZX-6R Kawasaki can be. So it’s been very frustrating this season not being able to be up there challenging, especially when lads I raced with and beat to the ‘stock six’ championship last season are already winning races.

“I did see myself as a genuine championship challenger this season, as I’ve never been a win-it-or-bin-it type of racer. There is a still a lot of work to do internally to get the bike in the ballpark, as we struggled to get close to my Superstock 600 times in the recent test. That gap must be bridged in terms of set-up.”

“I’m not getting the excuse book out. The team knows where we need to be, to be able to challenge and at the minute we are not there. I’ve done all the preparation correctly and will arrive at Snetterton, fit and race ready. It’s going to be a pivotal weekend.”
