SOUTH-Essex Gymnastics Club duo Brinn Bevan and Max Whitlock have both been selected in Great Britain’s squad for this summer’s Olympic Games.

Bevan – a former Deanes School pupil – has worked his way back from a double leg break to make the five man squad.

And he now cannot wait to head to Rio.

“It’s been a rough journey for me with a few ups and downs along the way,” said Bevan.

“But it’s a fantastic feeling and I’m really excited about it already.”

Whitlock’s inclusion was a foregone conclusion after his incredible success in recent seasons.

However, he was still delighted to make the squad.

“Preparations are going well and we all can’t wait to get out there now,” said Whitlock, who won two bronze medals at London 2012.

“It’s certainly going to be an exciting one and it’s a really proud moment to have been picked.”
