BOWLERS from South Benfleet & Canvey BC have booked their place in the final of a regional fours competition.

Alan Taylor, Andy Eva, Mick Salisbury, Dave Starkey and reserve Chris Carter reached the showdown of the London & Southern Counties BA Fours competition after beating Southey BC 21 shots to 17 in the semi-final.

The victory over the club from Raynes Park, Surrey, was played at Bellingham BC in Lewisham and pitched SB&C against Eastleigh BC.

The final against the Hampshire four will be at Bounds Green BC on Saturday, September 3.

London & Southern Counties BA is made up of 12 counties from around the capital.

Other bowlers from SB&C will be looking for silverware when the Basildon & District Lawn Bowls Association finals are held on Saturday.

Paula Keep will be playing in the final of the Ladies' Champion of Champions final at 10am at Gloucester Park.

And the team of Jim Druve, Roy Smith and Dolly House are in action in the final of the Mixed Triples at 1pm.

SB&C's A-team finished second in their first season back in Division One of the Group Six league.

SB&C's D-team defeated Memorial Park BC from Wickford 65-35 in their Basildon & District League match to take all seven points.
