SOUTH Essex Gymnastics Club came away with 27 medals, one trophy and one award at the Rhythmic British Championships – their biggest ever return.

A total of 15 gymnasts qualified for the annual championships, at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

In the Individual section, the club had Isobel Connah in the Under-9s and Josslyn Miller in the Under-10s.

Isobel performed well in her first national competition and won a bronze medal in rope and the overall section.

Josslyn had a very busy weekend at her second British Championships, competing six individual routines and four group routines. Despite that she performed extremely well to finish fifth overall and win a silver medal in the Hoop final.

Josslyn, along with her team mates Louise Imamzade, Rachel Lattimer and Emily Hardy formed the purple group who won overall bronze in the Espoir Group competition.

They went on to win another bronze medal in the hoop final.

In the same section we had the Blue group which was formed with Francesca Foster, Isla Sewell-Moore, Louisa Duff and Alicia Barnes. The Blue group performed four great routines to finish sixth overall and win a silver medal in the Hoop final.

The final section of the weekend was the Junior Group which consisted of Connie Miller, Jade Woollard, Lucy Imamzade, Zoey Broadbent, Drew Castle and Zoe Harrison.

They performed four clean routines and one outstanding clubs routine to be crowned the overall Junior Group Champions.

Their coach Rebecca Bunce also won an award as the coach to the overall champions.

The junior group went on to win a bronze medal in the ball final.
