BENFLEET biker Mason Law secured his first British 600 Supersport win of the season in the Sprint race at Oulton Park.

Riding a ZX-6R in the Sprint race, Law continued on Sunday with a well-earned second position behind Bradley Ray who managed to pass the ailing Gearlink Kawasaki machine on the last lap.

The improvements made to Law’s bike in recent weeks boosted Mason’s confidence and he said getting the win was a great feeling.

“The weekend was great,” he said. “A win and a second is a great achievement for us. I was disappointed with what happened on the final lap as I felt like I could push for another win. I just lost so much power and I was lucky to get to the finish and secure second place.

“The dynamic was different to the Saturday but the race was planning out how I'd hoped. I got to see where I was losing time and where I was strong. I got to the front and set a consistent pace to wind it up and try and break away from Brad, but it just wasn't meant to be.

“Saturday was fantastic and I can't thank all the Gearlink Kawasaki team and all my personal sponsors enough for continuing to stand by me through the season.

“It was a great feeling to take the win finally and we have been working hard all year to achieve that. This is where I want to be now for the final races of the year, I don't have long to wait until Donington and I can't wait to get back out there."

As the lights went out for Race1 on Saturday, the Gearlink Kawasaki launched off the line vying for position and by the end of lap one was leading the field.

Law was challenged by Ray, Joe Francis and Luke Jones but repelled all their advances, intent on gaining his first win.

And he finished 0.266 seconds ahead of Ray who had set the fastest time on lap 10 in an effort to pass the Benfleet racer.

For race two on Sunday Law started from second place on the front row of the grid, although Law sped past Ray on lap seven.

The two protagonists were pulling away from the chasing pack and on the final lap the Gearlink Kawasaki suffered a technical issue which reduced the engine power and allowed Ray to take the lead, leaving a disgruntled Law to nurse his stricken machine into a well-earned second place.
