STOCK Shotokan Karate Club enjoyed another excellent weekend’s success as they excelled at the South East Open Karate Cup Championships.

Held in Clacton, the Thundersley club were on the winners podium again and came away with 12 trophies.

Grace Thompson won silver in the ladies Kata as she put in an excellent account of herself against her opponents.

Jason Sanchez took silver in the men’s kata, coming so close to taking the top placing.

There was a bronze in the men’s kumite and the duo teamed up to take second place in the pairs kata as they impressed throughout their performance.

Samuel Campbell won silver for cadets kumite and 16-year-old Annalisa Marano won two trophies, also earning third place in cadets girls kata and third in kumite.

Lee Brittney, 13, came third in Boys Kumite and Skye Taylor, nine, and Connor Coleman, seven, came away with a bronze trophy each for junior pairs kata and Skye also came second in her Kata event.

Sisters Charlotte and Emily Stanford narrowly missed out on trophies this time by a few points each.

But both girls gave a very good account of themselves in their kata and kumite competitions and can be very proud of their efforts.
