CANVEY Island’s Mike Hales is aiming to be a smash hit both in MMA and on the television.

The 21-year-old extended his 100 per cent record with a ninth win in a row when he beat Lynas Mistevicious in Southend last weekend.

And his latest appearance came after he had been on two TV shows - Celebrities Go Dating and Stage School - which were both shown.

“I ended up on a few TV shows and I have another bigger show lined up which should also be fun but fighting will always be my main priority,” said Hales.

“I always train hard but I ended up being given a few chances to go on TV so I took them and I look forward to what the future holds.

“But I can’t be getting hit too much if the TV work is to continue!”

Hales was again able to avoid any heavy blows in his latest success, which came at the Talk Nightclub in the UWC Contender fight night.

And he was happy to secure the victory inside the first round.

“I really enjoyed the fight and appreciated all the support that I was given from coaches and the fans to help make it happen,” said Hales.

“I finished him in the first round by TKO.

“But I was just getting my distance and timing together when the guy ended up clinching me and it was over from that moment really.

“It would have been good to show off more of my skills.

“But I did what I had to do to get the job done and get the win.”

“I’m not sure what’s next in terms of when and where I’ll be fighting next.

“However, in the new year I’m looking to push this all the way.”

>Hales was also keen to thank his sponsors Huff and Puff castles, Debut Salons and Fresh Box meals for their ongoing support of his career.
