BILLERICAY & Wickford Boxing Club’s Joe Giles has been crowned the new English Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion.
Giles won the title at Billericay & Wickford’s Main Event Boxing Gym in Wickford.
The boxer then defeated Ben Jarvis at the National Amateur Boxing Clubs National Championship Class C Finals, in Bridlington, Yorkshire, to win the championship title for the 75-81kg Group.
Despite southpaw boxer Jarvis being an England international, Giles was full of confidence having become the new English Boxing Champion only two weeks earlier.
Both Giles and Ryan Butler, who defeated Tommy Fury at the championships to be named 81-91kgs Heavyweight Champion, have been put forward for GB assessments, with Billericay & Wickford Boxing Club hoping to double their list of international boxers to four.
