MORGAN Fox has completed a move to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £700,000.

The left back, who was a student at Southend High School for Boys, joins the Hillsborough club from League One side Charlton Athletic.

Fox, 23, has reportedly signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Owls.

The South Woodham-raised defender came through the ranks at the Valley and made 116 appearances for the Addicks.

Fox was involved for Charlton on 30 occasions this term, and started for Karl Robinson’s side in the 1-1 draw with Southend United last month.

Having impressed for the League One side, Fox has also won caps for the Wales under-21s and received a call-up to Chris Coleman’s senior squad ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Cyprus and Israel.

The defender, who enjoyed a loan spell with Notts County in 2013, missed the chance to make his Sheffield Wednesday debut in their FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough yesterday due to being cup-tied.

But Fox will be in contention to make his Owls bow when they take on promotion chasing Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Following the completion of his move, Fox said: “Sheffield Wednesday is a massive club and it’s going in the right direction. It is a natural progression for me.

“I have been in one Wales squad and hopefully by coming here and playing at a top level I can get my name back in there.”

Defeat to Hull City in the Championship play-off final last term saw the Owls miss out on promotion back to the Premier League.

But with Fox’s new employers currently in the play-off places, they will be looking to break into the top flight for the first time since relegation in 2000.
