A SWEYNE Park School pupil is looking to build on her recent success on the national show jumping circuit.

Rosie Collins won the second round qualifier in the 138cm Royal International Horse Show qualifier at Morris Equestrian Centre, Scotland.

As a result, the 12-year-old and her new pony Aero (Thyme Flies) are off to the Royal International Horse Show 12 months after enjoying success in Hickstead.

Rosie started riding at the age of five and became a member of the Essex Union South Pony Club.

After developing a love for show jumping, Rosie became a member of the British Show Jumping Association in 2011.

Rosie has since impressed on the national show jumping circuit and was shortlisted to jump for England two years ago.

In 2016, Rosie competed on two ponies at the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead, where she won the 128cm Championship on her 20-year-old pony Bradmore Mystique.

Rosie also finished third in the National Championship and 128cm Grand Prix at the English Home Pony.

Stuart Collins, Rosie’s father, has admitted that he is proud of his daughter’s success on the national show jumping circuit, which has seen Rosie also compete in the Horse of the Year Show.

Collins said: “2015 was a successful year.

“She competed on two ponies in the 128cm Winter Final at Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead, where she finished eighth. She was also shortlisted to jump for England and competed at Horse Of The Year Show.

“In 2016, Rosie won the first Horse Of The Year Show qualifier at Weston Lawns and competed there in October. She also came third at Olympia in the 128cm Mistletoe Stakes.

“Rosie jumped for England twice, helping her team to win a silver medal in each.”

Rosie has now moved on to 138cm ponies, and has been competing on her new pony since October.

Having already enjoyed success in booking her place at the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead, Collins insists that Rosie is looking for more success over the course of the year.

Collins added: “Last year was her most successful year so far and her greatest achievement was winning the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead. Rosie is now looking to qualify for the Horse of the Year Show.”
