NEIL Harris revealed his son’s former PE teacher inspired his Millwall team to defeat Premier League champions Leicester City and move into the FA Cup quarter-finals.

A stoppage time winner from Shaun Cummings handed the 10-man League One Lions a 1-0 win against Claudio Ranieri’s men, leading to jubilation in the home dug-out and among the supporters.

But the former Southend United striker, who is based in Eastwood, said non-league Lincoln - whose manager Danny Cowley taught his son Cameron for three years at Rayleigh’s FitzWimarc School - inspired the result after beating Premier League Burnley in the lunchtime kick-off.

“We took inspiration from what Lincoln did,” said Harris.

“What they achieved outshines us and well done to Danny Cowley but this is a great feeling.”

Millwall’s victory made it a hat-trick of Premier League scalps after knocking out Bournemouth and Watford on their way to the fifth round along with Southend United in the first round.

Their task was made harder when Jake Cooper was sent off just seven minutes into the second-half, but Harris felt the defender’s dismissal galvanised the Lions.

“When we went to 10 men it galvanised us,” said Harris.

“There was more pressure on Leicester.

“But when we needed that bit of quality Shaun Cummings provided it.

“It’s a big moment for us and to beat the Premier League reigning champions is great.

“I think I lost my cool a bit when that goal went in.

“It was a fantastic moment for everybody in the stadium connected to Millwall.

“There’s something about the FA Cup for this club since 2004 [when they finished runners-up].

"Why, who knows?

"But we’re in the quarter-finals and we can reach a final.

"A League One team can reach the final.”
