ROSS Connolly cannot wait to race at the home of British motorsport.

The 15-year-old Shoeburyness High School pupil is set to race at Silverstone in the Junior Saloon Car Championships on Sunday.

The event will be televised and Ross is looking forward to getting on the world famous track.

“I’m extremely excited to have my first race in a car at the home of British motorsport,” said Ross.

“I am looking forward to competing in the Junior Saloon Car Championships.

“It’s a great opportunity for young drivers moving into car racing and I am hoping to excel.”

Ross will be racing at Silverstone, Knockhill, Croft, Pembrey and Donnington before finishing the year at Brands Hatch.

The teenager started racing in the Brentwood Karting Junior Race League in the summer of 2014.

Two years later, Ross moved onto the Junior Subaru UK Karting Championships and picked up numerous wins.

Now he will be competing in the Junior Saloon Car Championships in his Citreon Saxo and Ross is looking forward to showing what he can do.

Ross added: “To have come this far in such a short amount of time is fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing where this opportunity takes me.

“First and foremost I’m looking to enjoy my racing - next is to win!

“I have goals set to be the fastest rookie driver and will be closely analysing my lap times at the different circuits I will be racing at.”

Ross, who is looking to become a professional racing driver in the future, is supported by the Extreme 22 Racing Division.
