HULLBRIDGE Sports lost 3-1 in the final of the Tolleshunt D’Arcy Memorial Cup final.
Sports were unable to avenge their defeat to Heybridge Swifts in last year’s final, with Jimmy Cox’s penalty a mere consolation against the same opposition.
In a particularly physical match, in which Sports manager Rob Hodgson was on the receiving end of a number of robust challenges, the first goal cam after 18 minutes.
Adam Yusuff netted the first of the evening although Sports were well in the clash, with that the only goal of the first 45 minutes.
Luca Frankis was denied early in the second-half before two quickfire goals ended the contest.
Strikes on 58 and 60 minutes - from Reece Grant and Jack Cawley - made it 3-0.
Cox pulled one back six minutes later to give Sports a glimmer of hope at Scraley Road.
A red card for Swifts’ Alieu Njie 12 minutes from time made for an exciting ending but Sports couldn’t force their way back into the tie.
