STUART Bingham says he is full of confidence ahead of his second round match with Kyren Wilson at the World Championships.

The Bowers Gifford potter booked his place in round two with a 10-5 win over former champion Peter Ebdon on Monday, but is now gearing up for an equally tough match today.

Bingham begins his match against Wilson at 2pm, with the following two sessions on Friday.

And he is aware of the size of the challenge facing him - with Wilson having won all four of their previous encounters.

“I played Kyren at the China Open only a few weeks ago and I will use what I learned in that match in my favour,” said the 40-year-old.

“I played him at the Shanghai Masters in 2013 but I had just had my honeymoon so I hadn’t practised for a week.

“And at this year’s Championship League meeting I was coming off the back of a win at the Welsh Open so I was quite tired.

“In China, it came down to two balls and I am sure this will be a good match too.”

Wilson, 14th seed in Sheffield, defeated David Grace 10-6 in the first round.

Meanwhile, Bingham is desperate to get out onto the Crucible floor once again, and says enjoying the experience is the best way to approach a match.

“It was great to win on Monday,” he said. “I settled quickly and you need to get that frame on the board early on. Once you have you can enjoy it and I try to have a laugh with the crowd as well.

“The pressure of the situation can go one of two ways, and I try to thrive off of it.

“Kyren is improving every tournament he plays,” added Bingham, of last year’s quarter-finalist. “He got to the semi-final in China and will be confident too. I saw some of his first match against David and it will be tough.”
