MASON Law set more records in the National 1000cc Superstock Championship after securing a podium finish at Snetterton.

The 21-year-old produced a fine ride for Stauff Connect Academy Kawasaki, as he battled with more experienced riders at the front of the race.

Law, from Benfleet, finished 3.7 seconds behind championship leader and close friend Danny Buchan – but set the fastest lap of the race and a new class lap record.

And the rookie said he was really pleased with a result that leaves him fifth in the championship standings after five rounds of racing.

“Along with my Stauff Connect Academy and GR Motosport team we have been working really hard on the all-new Kawasaki ZX-10RR,” he said.

“We are finally where I want to be with the bike, although to be fair they’ve been doing a great job all year for me.

“We got a great start in the race and picked a few of the leading guys off.

“It was nice to finally race with Danny [Buchan] as well, as he has been a friend of mine since we were kids.

“I enjoyed the battle with him, it was the best fun I’ve had this year on track and to do it in a dry race makes it even more satisfying.

“The fuel light was flashing on the last two laps which was a little disconcerting, but fair play to Danny, he came strong in the end and there’s no disgrace following a rider with his CV home.

“It’s given me another very valuable 20 points in the championship chase.

“We have set the fastest lap of the race which is also a new class lap record, so I’m pretty chuffed with that.

“Thanks to everyone for their support, not least my team and my dad.”

Law’s fastest lap saw him reach 97.13mph, as he raced around the track in 1min 50.028 seconds.

Law returns to action in the Brands Hatch Grand Prix on the weekend of July 22.
