East Essex Sabres could not build on their first win of the season in their last outing, as they fell to a heavy defeat against London Blitz B.

The Sabres went into the clash full of confidence after claiming their first success in the British American Football Association League Division Two East at the Ipswich Cardinals’ expense.

But an outstanding first half performance from London Blitz B resulting in them running out 54-8 winners.

The visitors racked up 48 unanswered points by the halfway stage of the match, leaving Lee Joseph’s side with a mountain to climb.

The second half proved to be more successful for the Sabres, as they managed to get some points on the board and allow the away side to only add six more points to their tally.

Buster Hodges scooped a fumble and ran the football into the end zone for a touchdown.

Kyle Bury followed that up by catching a pass from quarterback James Dawson for a two-point conversion.

But London Blitz B proved to be too strong for the Sabres, and were able to record a comfortable victory.

The Sabres will be aiming for revenge when they contest the return fixture on Sunday.

Joseph’s charges will head into that clash second from bottom in the standings and nine points adrift of London Blitz B, who are immediately above them in the league table.
