C&K Basildon Ladies ended their losing run at Lewes by claiming a point in their Women’s Premier League Southern Division clash.

Having not taken a point from visits over the previous two seasons, Angela Addison’s goal ensured a 1-1 draw to maintain Basildon’s unbeaten start.

Jay Blackie and April Bowers made the early running for the visitors, although it was Angela Addison that worked the earliest opportunity. She fed Zoe Rushen, but her strike went over the crossbar.

Away goalkeeper Nikita Runnacles wasn’t called into action until 10 minutes before the break, but she fielded the effort relatively comfortably.

Therese Addison shot wide for C&K as the pressure grew, although the breakthrough was not to come until the second half.

After 49 minutes, Amy Nash’s free-kick was met with a bullet header from Angela Addison, which the goalkeeper could not keep out.

But Lewes were to peg C&K back.

On the hour, a high cross into the penalty area beat the defence but not Amy Taylor, who controlled and rifled across Runnacles and into the goal.

Angela Addison came closest to a winning goal but it was honours even come full time.
