CANVEY Island-based boxer Buster Stevens has admitted he ‘can’t wait to get in the ring now’.

Stevens will lace up the gloves for the first time in nearly a year and make his return on Saturday, when he takes on Kent’s RJ Molina.

The pair will go head-to-head on the undercard of the televised Queensbury Boxing League Glory promotion, which is one of the season’s biggest nights of boxing held at the infamous Epsom Downs Racecourse.

And the 19-year-old, who trains at the SS8 Academy in Canvey Island, has admitted he is excited to make his long-awaited comeback.

Stevens said: “I’ve been waiting a long time for this fight and I can’t wait to get in the ring now and face Molina.

“I’ve been out for a while now and I’m really hungry to get back in there and show what I’ve been working on.”

Stevens lost his final bout before taking a break from the sport.

And the teenager, who will line-up alongside many of the show’s biggest stars as he attempts to throw his name straight back into the title mix, knows that a win on Saturday night would see him improve his chances of a shot at a title.

Stevens added: “I might have lost my last fight, but I’ll never give up on my dreams.

“I know fighters say it all the time, but this is the best I’ve ever felt for a fight and the support has been amazing from all of my family and friends.

“I’ve had some amazing sparring with local fighters Mike Hales, Darren Geisa, Toby Smith and help from Georgie Smith and Michael Cain, so I’m more than ready.

“This weekend, people are going to see a different Buster Stevens and it’s going to be a fantastic night of Championship boxing.”
